October - Concert
A most enjoyable and lively concert was held in St. Laurence's Church, on Friday night, October, 22nd.
Headlining the night were the members of the Cork Garda Male Voice Choir who presented a varied programme of choral songs, solos and a particularly beautiful duet.
Among the members of the choir was Brian Shanahan, a native of Dungarvan and six new members made their debut that night.
Also on the programme were the McElhinney Twins from Cork who made a huge impact in the 'You're A Star' Competition two years ago.
The songs of local girl, Lorna-Jane Murray were also enthusiastically received and completing the line-up were The Clancys from Stradbally, who had three generations of the family on stage and played a variety of Irish and traditional music, which as the opening act, put the audience in a very warm and receptive mood.
The Church was full to capacity for the event and had been specially decorated with flowers. The eight member organising committee had done a huge amount of work in advance of the evening.
Very Rev. Rd. Doherty, P.P., thanked the guests for a magnificent night's entertainment and all who had helped with the organisation and preparations.
The MC was Tom Keith and at the end of the night, Choir Chairman, Pat Cogan was presented with part of the evening's proceeds on behalf of the Hope Foundation, Cork.
